All awards will be given during the AO December Meeting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at the Harbor Beach Marriott.
GOAL: The recipient shall be a person(s) who is outstanding for contributions to dentistry or its allied sciences.
Meritorious Service Award
GOAL: To bring forth a frater who has not been an international president or a current member of the board of directors who has demonstrated outstanding and exemplary service to Alpha Omega over a ten year period.
Certificate of Merit
GOAL: To bring forth an appropriate candidate who has shown special service to the international fraternity or at the chapter level.
GOAL: To bring forth an appropriate candidate who is not an Alpha Omega who has made an outstanding contribution to dentistry or to the allied health professions or has otherwise made an outstanding contribution to the organization.
Trudi Birger Community Service Award
GOAL: To recognize the individual(s), group or chapter which has performed exemplary service to their community.
Coinciding with the AO December Meeting (Thursday, December 28 – Monday, January 1) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the newly created AO Student Awards will recognize the outstanding contributions from our student chapters in North America, Europe, and Israel.
These awards will be presented during the AO International Council meeting on Friday, December 29th. Representatives from each student chapter are encouraged to attend, especially if the chapter and/or representative has been nominated for an award or awards.
CategoriesMost Innovative Community Service Event (Dental Related) Award: Presented to the chapter that uses creativity to raise funds for a charitable cause.
Most Innovative Community Service (Non-Dental Related) Award: Presented to the chapter that uses creativity to raise funds for a charitable cause.
Outstanding Chapter President Award: Presented to the individual whose leadership directed the chapter in one or more of these suggested areas: increased membership, offered more social events, and/or organized charitable initiatives.
Most Improved Chapter Award: Presented to the chapter whose recruiting efforts have significantly increased membership in the 2016-17 dues year. The increase is relative to the 2015-16 chapter size.
Advocate Award: Presented to the student chapter faculty advisor who provides continual and positive support to the AO student chapter.
Please submit your nomination for one or more awards Heidi Weber, Executive Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org. The 2017 Student Awards Committee will review the nominations and announce the winners int in the fall.
Recipients are strongly encouraged to attend the awards ceremony on Friday, December 29th in addition to the entire December meeting.
Award Sponsorship: Interested in naming an award after a loved one or your family? Sponsorships are available starting at $500 and funds will be distributed to the chapter recipients to support ongoing chapter philanthropic and social events. A three-year commitment is requested for each award.
