Dear Fellow Alpha Omegans and Friends,
I am writing you concerning a sponsorship opportunity for the 6th Annual Oral Cancer Awareness 5K Walk hosted by the Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine’s Alpha Omega Fraternity Chapter. We are currently raising funds for a 9-year-old boy to help him afford mandibular jaw replacement surgery due to his oral cancer.
Sadly, oral cancer is diagnosed in about 136 new individuals each day in the US alone, and a person suffers a tragic death from oral cancer every hour of every day. However, when discovered within the early stages of its development, oral cancer victims can have an 80 to 90% survival rate. As student dentists, our mission is to increase awareness of oral cancer among our local community by educating the public and offering free oral cancer screenings. In addition, all funds raised by the event will be contributed towards helping an oral cancer survivor from our dental clinic in their recovery process.
Last year, with the support of local and national organizations, we were able to host a 5K Walk that funded research for Oral Cancer. More than 200 registered runners and volunteers were in attendance, enabling us raise over $3,500. We are anxiously looking forward to even greater success at this year’s event, which will be held on March 25, 2018 at the NSU Main Campus.
Any kind of support you can provide will be greatly appreciated. This year we have instituted a tier system for donations. Depending on the level of donation, we would be happy to place your company’s logo on our finish line banner, event T-shirts, flyers, or even provide on-air radio advertisements through our DJ booth. In the past, donations have ranged from gift certificates/prizes for race winners, general donation amounts for event fees, to food or drinks for participants. Please see the attached description for the tier system below. To have your logo on our t-shirts in time, please send us a PDF before March 1, 2018.
If your organization would be able to contribute to this year’s event as a sponsor, please contact me to set up a brief meeting. We are also able to provide you with a certificate of donation if necessary. I also have attached an article describing our event from Nova Southeastern College of Dental Medicine’s newsletter Lasting Impressions, to show the impact we were able to have. Thank you so much for your time and consideration - with your help we hope to save lives and contribute to those that have been affected by oral cancer.
