Atlanta Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity co-hosts Tomorrow's Smiles Charity Dinner
 Dec 21, 2009 Atlanta, GA, USA: Tomorrow’s SMILES and Atlanta Alpha Omega Chapter teamed up with Atlantan Magazine to host the first ‘Toasting Tomorrow’s SMILES’ dinner. The fundraiser to benefit Tomorrow’s SMILES, a program of the non-profit National Children’s Oral Health Foundation, raised over US$12,000 to provide oral health services to help promising at-risk students be better prepared for happy, healthy and productive futures.
The 56 guests enjoyed an elegant four-course dinner at The Tasting Room Restaurant & Wine Bar on Thursday, 5 November. Chef Russell Wooten's carefully selected menu was perfectly complemented by incredible wines from Banfi Winery. A special raffle and auction was also held. All proceeds from the benefit dinner will help provide restorative and esthetic dental treatment to at-risk teens.
The Tomorrow's SMILES program was created and initially funded by a gift from Dr Ronald Goldstein, a highly respected, clinician, author and lecturer. Dr Goldstein was instrumental in making ‘Toasting Tomorrow's SMILES' a successful event.
"I believe this type of fundraiser is a good way that virtually every chapter of Alpha Omega can implement. It helps the community better understand the charitable nature of the fraternity," said Dr Goldstein.
Tomorrow's SMILES was officially approved as an Alpha Omega charity during last year's international convention.
Dr Aubrey Scher, Atlanta Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity president, who attended the dinner, was pleased with the outcome. He said, "Alpha Omega was proud to support such a wonderful dental charity. The dinner was a great event for alpha omegans to join together in supporting the community."
Fern Ingber, National Children's Oral Health Foundation president and CEO, said, "Alpha Omega's Toasting Tomorrow's SMILES dinner is a shining example of the strong partnership our organizations have developed for the benefit of Dr Goldstein's innovative program. We hope the success of this inaugural dinner spurs additional fundraisers and an increased awareness of the critical dental services Alpha Omega volunteers are providing America's future leaders."
National Children's Oral Health Foundation: America's Toothfairy (NCOHF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, dedicated to raising awareness of the No. 1 chronic childhood illness: pediatric dental disease, facilitating delivery of comprehensive pediatric oral health services, and eliminating this preventable disease from future generations.
