This collaborative continuing education event will focus on the airway and its relationship to dentistry from early life to adulthood. Four clinicians will share their expertise and perspectives to provide attendees a comprehensive overview.

 Course Objectives:

•Review oral health concepts with pregnancy physiology, infant nutrition and discuss the habits in relationship to orofacial growth/development, and tongue tie diagnosis and treatment options.

•Identify the orthodontists roll is screening patients for obstructive sleep apnea.

• Understand what proper growth of the maxilla and mandible look like.

• Recognize what skeletal and dental issues may increase the chance of obstructive sleep apnea.

Dr. Margaret Richards Frankel, DMD

Dr. Margaret Frankel is the dentist and business owner of Richards Frankel Dentistry- A Comprehensive dental care practice focused on its patients' total health. DR. Frankel provides cosmetic and comprehensive dentistry with a focus on airway development and management.

Dr. Margaret is visiting faculty at Spear Education, a premier continuing dental education center in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Dr. Margaret Frankel received her BA from Bryn Mawr College, continued onto Harvard University, and then attended Case School of Dental Medicine, earning her DMD degree in 2013. Dr. Frankel is a contributing author to the dental textbook "The Art of Complete Denture Therapy for the General Practitioner," where she wrote the airway examination.

Dr. Frankel has continued to be committed to Cleveland's Jewish committee since moving home in 2008. She was named a Cleveland Jewish News's Difference Maker in 2016, in 2018, as one of YWCA's Distinguished Young Woman Award.

When Dr. Margaret is not traveling for continuing dental education, she spends her time with her husband Jonathan, a facial plastic surgeon, and her two children, Scarlett (7) and Teddy (4). She also enjoys adult competitive ice skating.


Dr. Lauren Levi, DMD, MS

Lauren Levi DMD MS is an orofacial pain dentist whose practice is limited to orofacial pain, dental sleep medicine, and oral medicine. She is an adjunct assistant clinical professor in orofacial pain at the NYU College of Dentistry and a clinical instructor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. After graduating from dental school, she completed a residency at New York Presbyterian Weill-Cornell Medical Center, followed by a dental oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering. She subsequently received a master's degree in orofacial pain and oral medicine from the University of Southern California.

Dr. Whitney Mostafiz, DMD, MS

Whitney Mostafiz-Levinson, DMD, MS is a Board-Certified Orthodontist in NYC on the Upper East Side. She is also an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at NYU.  A Long Island native, Dr. Whitney studied Human Biology and Visual Arts at Brown University, graduating with honors. She completed dental school at Harvard School of Dental Medicine also with honors. Dr. Whitney completed her orthodontics residency at the historic University of Illinois at Chicago, where her research led to a Master's degree.

During her training, Dr. Whitney was fortunate to travel to Sydney, Australia, twice to perform and publish award-winning research on obstructive sleep apnea and oral appliance therapy. This research was published in the peer-reviewed journals Chest and the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in 2011 and 2019. Dr. Whitney speaks on early intervention orthodontics, sleep-disordered breathing/obstructive sleep apnea, multidisciplinary orthodontic treatment, and Invisalign treatment planning and design.  Dr. Whitney has experience with combined surgical treatment and seeing patients with craniofacial abnormalities.

Dr. Whitney enjoys creating bespoke Swarovski art, drawing, painting, photography, and graphic design in her free time. She also enjoys spending time with her family, especially her new baby Asher!


Dr. Shira Tor, DMD, MPH

Shira is a partner and orthodontist at Weiss and Tor Orthodontics in Cleveland, Ohio.  She attended the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, where she received both her Doctorate of Dental Medicine and her Master in Public Health.  She then went on to the University of Virginia for her General Practice Residency and finally to Einstein Medical Health Center for her residency in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.  After graduation, she joined her now-business partner, who was her orthodontist and mentor.

In practice, Shira sees both kids and adults and enjoys being part of a comprehensive approach to dentistry.  Her main objective is to help patients gain their smile confidence while building a strong dental foundation.  She loves being able to get to know patients during their treatment and takes pride in her role in their smile journeys. Aside from her passion for orthodontics, Shira loves spending time with her husband and three daughters.  She enjoys exploring new restaurants and culinary adventures.  When she is not attending continuing education, you can find her with her friends and family eating, traveling, and laughing.
